Autumn in the valley

It is possibly one of the most beautiful times to visit the Riebeek Valley; the heat of summer has abated and left us with a canvas of gold, burgundy and russet.
Weekends offer a variety of activities, whether you’re after retail therapy or just want to sample the delicious local wines, olives and cuisine. There are a few markets including the long standing Funky Fresh on the first Saturday of each month, the Country Fair on the last Saturday and the newly  introduced Slow market at Groenrivier on every Sunday.  Short Street and surrounds is a wonderful place to explore as there are a variety of little shops, galleries and eateries, and is within easy walking distance of everything, including the Tourism office which can provide visitors with information on local attractions.
The Valley is an attractive destination for those lucky enough to be able to slip away from the rat race during the week with most of the restaurants offering very reasonable week day specials, cosy fireplaces and excellent wine lists. Being only an hour from Cape Town the Riebeek Valley really is the ideal place to escape to. . .
