Riebeek West’s, Pulpit Rock, walked away with the laurels at this year’s Swartland Young Wine Show. The cellar won three trophies including the sought after ABSA trophy for Swartland’s Champion Wine.

In characteristic fashion Riebeek Cellars walked away with no less than four trophies including those for Champion Dry White and Champion Shiraz.

Riebeek Valley wines warmly received in Windhoek

The Valley’s very own Riebeek Cellars and Kloovenburg participated in the Namibia Expo recently in Windhoek. As could be expected wines from the region were very warmly received. Pictured below are Eric Saayman (Riebeek Cellars winner of last year’s General Smuts trophy for his Kasteelberg Viognier), Jolene Janse van Rensburg (Santam Swartland Wine- & Olive Route) and Stephan Basson (Babylon’s Peak Private Cellar).

Riebeek Cellars takes Gold

We’ve just heard that Riebeek Cellars, who are practically our neighbours, have won gold for their 2010 Kasteelberg Shiraz at the world renowned Decanter Awards. In addition to this they also took silver at the Syrah-du-monde in France. The grapes, from wines situated on the slopes of Kasteelberg, are hand selected and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 14 months before being bottled unfiltered. This is definitely something to be celebrated and just another excuse to visit the Riebeek Valley.
